SPECIALTIES IN OSTEOPATHY

Obstetric Osteopathy

Osteopathy during pregnancy focuses on improving the mobility of the bones involved in childbirth and the flexibility of the muscles and ligaments of the pelvic area. The goal is to adapt the mother’s body for a more comfortable delivery and avoid unnecessary interventions. Osteopathy can help reduce pain, facilitate the birth process and speed up postpartum recovery. At our clinic we have specialists who accompany the mother during pregnancy and then the newborn if necessary. With obstetric osteopathy we achieve the maximum adaptation of the baby and decrease the discomfort that may arise, adjusting the pelvis so that the baby’s skull does not suffer compressions.

BENEFITS

Benefits of Osteopathy in pregnancy and postpartum

Give mobility to all abdominal tissues, release all the links between organs, elasticize the muscles of the abdominal wall so that the growing fetus does not cause pain when stretching the skin, creating stretch marks afterwards.

In the first months, relieve back pain due to the change in severity and digestive and respiratory pain due to the change in the size of the uterus, producing tension in the tissues that unite them.

From the 3rd to the 8th month of gestation, fluid retention, circulation problems and leg cramps begin. For this reason, osteopathy is of great help to relieve tension in the lymphatic and vascular system for its proper functioning.

As of the 8th month, obstetric osteopathy does not have any contraindications in pregnancy, as long as it is not a risky pregnancy. Obstetric osteopathy prepares the woman both psychologically and physically for a good delivery.

Labor arrives and attention becomes almost exclusively focused on the baby. The woman enters a new phase in which her body becomes a stranger with whom she lives. But the mother’s body continues to change and transform to adapt to everything that the baby brings with it: breastfeeding, brief and interrupted rest, parenting, etc.

Osteopathy in pregnancy treats the general loss of muscle tone, especially in the vaginal area; abdominal laxity; weightloss; hormonal fluctuations; and, in some cases, bladder disorders.

Although attention is focused on the baby, it is essential that the mother spend some time noticing these changes and following a recovery plan that avoids, as far as possible, blocking or limiting the body and its capabilities.

Obstetric Osteopathy

What pathologies do we treat with Obstetric Osteopathy?

During pregnancy: back pain, pubic pain, low back pain in pregnant women, inappropriate positions of the baby that could make delivery difficult, constipation, and headache

In the postpartum we treat: incontinence, disorders of your pelvic floor, recovery from a cesarean section, scar treatment and dysfunctions of physical and hormonal changes.

Digestive problems

Such as nausea and/or vomiting (especially in the first trimester), acidity, burning, burning and poor digestion, constipation...

Sciatica and low back pain

Skeletal problems such as sciatica, low back pain, back pain...

Fluid retention

Fluid retention with swollen feet and/or legs. / Urinary incontinence, especially at the end of pregnancy.

Childbirth preparation

Through the use of gentle and non-invasive manual techniques, it seeks to provide relief and comfort to both mother and fetus.

These techniques are applied delicately and respectfully, taking into account the sensitivity and needs of the body during pregnancy.

Perineum massage

The perineum massage is done from week 35 and we will teach you or your partner how to do it. It is indicated to make the entire area of the pelvic floor more flexible and if we find tensions, treat them directly since we will be in direct contact with the muscles.

"Dr. David Ponce, is a crack!!! After more than two years and two hip interventions after which acute pain persisted in the posterior thigh during this same time, he knew how to diagnose me with what no specialist contemplated: a break old hamstring, from which I am beginning to recover in the same clinic with the "hand" of the physiotherapist Arnau Surós."
