SPECIALTIES IN Physiotherapy

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is a specialty within physiotherapy that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the muscles, ligaments and connective tissues of the pelvic area. This type of physical therapy can be beneficial for men and women who have pelvic floor dysfunctions, such as urinary incontinence, muscle weakness, chronic pelvic pain, prolapse, or sexual dysfunction.

The pelvic floor physiotherapist will use specific techniques and exercises to strengthen, relax and re-educate the muscles of the pelvic area. These techniques may include muscle contraction and relaxation exercises, manual therapy, electrostimulation, biofeedback, and recommendations on postural and lifestyle habits.

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

What pathologies do we treat with pelvic floor physiotherapy?

Pelvic floor physical therapy treats a variety of conditions, including urinary incontinence, prolapses, sexual dysfunction, chronic pelvic pain, bowel disorders, and childbirth preparation/recovery. Treatment is tailored to the individual needs of each patient.

It is primarily intended for people with dysfunction in this area, such as postpartum women, women with urinary incontinence, people with prolapses, men with erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, people with chronic pelvic pain or pain during sexual intercourse, and anyone experiencing disorders related to the pelvic floor. Treatment can be beneficial for both men and women of different ages.

We have electrotherapy to combine with manual and myofascial techniques and thus be able to carry out the earliest and most complete recovery possible with devices such asradio frequency (INDIBA), shock waves and ultrasound. We also have licensed professionals trained in dry needling to treat myofascial trigger points.

Urinary incontinence

Both stress incontinence (SUI); that are urine leaks during physical activities, such as urge incontinence, which is the difficulty in controlling the need to urinate, or mixed, which is when SUI and UUI occur.

Inguinal hernia

Premature ejaculation

Ejaculation that occurs earlier than desired during sexual activity.

Erectile dysfunction

It is defined as difficulty getting or maintaining an erection.
It can be treated with specific pelvic floor exercises and the vascularization of the perineal area can be improved with radiofrequency, among other treatment guidelines.

Dyspareunia

Pain during sexual intercourse. It can be caused by various reasons, such as recurrent infections, vaginal dryness, muscular or emotional problems. Treatment can combine manual and myofascial therapy, perineal relaxation techniques, release of trigger points with electrotherapy such as radiofrequency to improve the quality of pelvic floor tissues and strengthen adjacent structures.

Peyronie's disease

It is a condition in which fibrous scar tissue forms in the erectile tissue of the penis. We have shock waves for your treatment. It is a completely painless therapy without adverse effects, which obtains a high percentage of good results, thus reducing the fibrosis (scar) that occurs on the surface of the penis.

"Dr. David Ponce, is a crack!!! After more than two years and two hip interventions after which acute pain persisted in the posterior thigh during this same time, he knew how to diagnose me with what no specialist contemplated: a break old hamstring, from which I am beginning to recover in the same clinic with the "hand" of the physiotherapist Arnau Surós."
